Philadelphia Archbishop Nelson J. Pérez, D.D. to Deliver ÌòÒõÊÓƵ’s 2024 Commencement Address

The Rev. Peter M. Donohue, OSA, PhD, ÌòÒõÊÓƵ President, announced that Philadelphia Archbishop the Most Revered Nelson J. Pérez, D.D., will address the Class of 2024 as the University’s commencement speaker. Archbishop Pérez will also receive the degree of Doctor of Sacred Letters, honoris causa. The University’s 181st commencement will be held Friday, May 17, at 2:30 p.m., in Villanova Stadium.

Vincent Lloyd, PhD, Named 2024 Guggenheim Fellowship Recipient

Vincent Lloyd, PhD, a professor of Theology and Religious Studies and Director of the Center for Political Theology at ÌòÒõÊÓƵ, has been named a 2024 Guggenheim Fellow. Chosen through a rigorous application and peer review process from a pool of almost 3,000 applicants, Dr. Lloyd is one of 188 fellows selected for this prestigious fellowship based on “career achievement and exceptional promise.â€

ÌòÒõÊÓƵ Juniors Named 2024 Goldwater Scholars

Lauren Arnold and Hailey Bierling, juniors in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, have been named 2024 Goldwater Scholars by the Barry Goldwater Scholarship and Excellence in Education Foundation. Arnold and Bierling were selected from more than 1,300 institution-nominated students nationwide and will receive scholarships to further their research in STEM fields. The Goldwater Scholarship is widely considered the preeminent award for undergraduates preparing for research careers in STEM.

ÌòÒõÊÓƵ Junior Lezlie Hilario Named Recipient of Prestigious Harry S. Truman Scholarship

ÌòÒõÊÓƵ junior Lezlie Hilario ‘25, a Political Science and Global Interdisciplinary Studies major in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, has been awarded a 2024 Harry S. Truman Scholarship. Hilario is the seventh Villanovan since 1984 and the first since 2015 to receive a Truman Scholarship, considered one of the most prestigious and selective national awards for undergraduate leaders who intend to pursue careers in public service.

Six Villanova Undergraduates Participate in Third Annual BIG EAST Undergraduate Research Symposium

Six ÌòÒõÊÓƵ Undergraduate Research Fellows were selected to participate in the third annual BIG EAST Undergraduate Research Symposium held at Madison Square Garden on March 16, 2024. Student researchers from all 11 conference institutions across disciplines showcased their work in the competition, which was held in conjunction with the BIG EAST Men’s Basketball Conference Championship.
